Our in-house video production crew handles everything from pre-production planning, to shooting, and post-production work. While she wears a lot of hats on the team, our Associate Video Editor Jonna Olson can most often be found in the editing room transforming raw footage into compelling stories. Find out what she loves about her role and what inspires her.
Q: To get things rolling, let’s hear your personal elevator pitch. How would you describe your role at CID?
A: I edit videos! I also assist in pre-production planning and on shoot days you will find me running around with gear. Our team is small but mighty, and I love getting to play a part in all of the different roles. Throw anything at me and I’ll take it on. Even craft services!
Q: Tell us one thing you wish everyone knew about your role, your work, or your team.
A: We are super professional and have decades of collective experience. We can tackle any type of project, from interviews, documentaries, and industrial projects to big productions and non-profit work. We will take care of all aspects of those projects and ensure that we do everything we can to make our clients’ dreams work.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at CID? Are there any experiences or past projects that hold a special place for you?
A: I love when we get to run all over the city for a shoot. I love Milwaukee, so getting to film some of the iconic places here, with the Brewers, the lakefront, Summerfest, downtown, and all of the neighborhoods.
I also really enjoy getting to work in the Historic Third Ward.
Q: We’d love to know who inspires you. Do you have any professional mentors or personal heroes you’d like to shout out?
A: My children’s teachers are my heroes. I have children in special education and their teachers inspire me every day. They are my village.
Also, pretty much every woman in the film industry from Agnes Varda to Michelle Yeoh.
Q: You are a creative force here at CID, but we know those passions expand far beyond our office. What are some of your other talents, hobbies, or superpowers?
A: Going out and filming with my son. We like to take pictures and film together.
Q: What would a dream video, production, or other creative project look like for you?
A: I love documentaries and would love to make more of them, especially about underrepresented people and issues in Milwaukee.
Q: Last but certainly not least, what is a mantra, motto, catchphrase, or personal code that motivates and inspires you?
A: “Live and let live!”
